It is located in the Murchison Falls National Park – Northwest of Kampala straddling the districts of Buliisa, Nwoya, Kiryandongo and Masindi. The facility rests in the north-eastern part of Murchison Falls along the historic River Nile, a short distance from the famous Karuma Falls. It has some of the best fishing for the enormously sized Nile Perch.

Luxurious Rooms, Suits and Tents at Chobe Safari Lodge

There are 36 elegant guest rooms, 21 luxury tents, 4 suites and a Presidential Cottage are prominent aspects of this luxurious facility and of course the River Nile that offers an entirely impressive perspective. All rooms and luxury tents are built with balconies and terraces facing the magnificent sweeping views.

Unlike the regular Standard Rooms in the main building, the Standard Tents are slightly more expensive, designed to offer you an ultimate safari experience with great comfort entailing lovely spacious tents, tastefully decorated with large beds, large en-suite bathrooms, nice terraces and the most amazing view of the river.

The bigger and more expensive Deluxe Tents are on the right side of the main building while the regular tents are on the left side.

Enjoy the spectacular view of the Nile overlooking some rapids just below you. The Deluxe Tents tend to deliver a sense of tranquility although usually frequented by special guests (elephants) at short notice as they go down to the water.

Safari Game Drives and Nature Walks

Safari drive at Chobe which features recently developed game tracks is a unique experience which offers guests opportunities to discover the previously unexplored areas of the park.

After early breakfast at about 6am, morning game drives commence – 7am. Alternatively, other visitors would prefer to take a late breakfast after the game drive. A ranger guide from the UWA, booked by the lodge on prior notice normally accompanies visitors for the activity.

Launch Cruise on the Nile

The launch trip to view the magnificent Murchison Falls is definitely the highlight of any visit to Murchison Falls Conservation Area. Two trips are normally conducted here, 9.00am and 2.00pm lasting about three hours.

Hike to the top of the Falls

This is particularly for guests who enjoy severe exercise. They may disembark from the launch in the Fajao gorge for the 45-60 minute hike to the top of the falls.

Sport Fishing

A variety of fish species including the famous Nile perch, tilapia, yellow fish (barbel) and catfish among others occupy the river. More than 220 pounds/ 100kgs of Nile perch have been recorded to have been caught in this river.

It is an exciting experience to fish in this water usually done from the riverbank or from a boat at the base of the falls area.

This unique & classic game safari bush breakfast literally compliments any visit to Chobe Safari Lodge in the Murchison Falls National Park.

After waking up with a cup of coffee, guests normally set out for a safari drive along the game tracks around the Chobe circuit. It offers the best chance of seeing 4 of the famous African “big 5” – elephants, lions, leopards and buffaloes. Giraffes are also notable around the lodge.

The banqueting team’s efforts of preparations and set up (the tables with the necessary cutlery & crockery, chairs, umbrella canopy, the “bush kitchenette”, and a campfire) in time at the bush breakfast site precede the guests before they arrive.

The guests are welcomed with a glass of chilled, freshly squeezed passion juice upon arrival and then led to the tables to enjoy their classic ‘out of the Africa’ bush breakfast. Another safari drive is done on their way back after breakfast.
