Detailed 5 Days Uganda Primates and Wildlife Safari Itinerary:

Day 1: Transfer from Kampala to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park;

First day of your 5 days Uganda Primates and wildlife Safari: Wake up early enough (at least by 5:00am) for breakfast and be picked by our safari guide from your place of residence by 6:30am.

Be briefed on your exhilarating 5 days Uganda Primates Safari and leave the City for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a journey lasting 8-9 hours and involving a number of stopovers.

Your first stop is at the Uganda Equator along the Kampala-Masaka highlight where you will spend at least 30 minutes taking photos and exploring how the Earth is divided into Northern and Southern Hemispheres, and surprisingly get a chance to stand on both Hemispheres.

Proceed with the interesting and informative journey while enjoying the beauty that makes Uganda “the Pearl of Africa”, with another stop at Igongo Cultural Center before the Mbarara (the Town of Milk and Honey) for lunch. Continue until the Northern sector of Bwindi where you will be based.

Day 2: Mountain Gorilla Trekking and Cultural Tour;

Have a hefty breakfast at the Lodge and with your trekking gear head to the Park Headquarters for briefing on dos and don’ts of mountain gorilla trekking.

At 8:00am be transferred to the trailhead and start the trek in company of other 7 trekkers, porters, armed ranger and a guide, and this will take about 1-3 hours to find the allocated gorilla family.

What is Gorilla Trekking

On finding the family, your clock will start ticking, cameras rolling and information on the mountain gorillas flowing and after 60 minutes, your time with the mountain gorillas will be done.

Find a convenient place to enjoy your packed lunch and return to the Park Headquarters for your trekking certificate and later to the Lodge.

In the afternoon engage in a community walk to explore the interesting rural life and unique culture of the people which will be climaxed by an exciting cultural dance. Return to the Lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park;

After a leisurely breakfast at the Lodge, check-out and start your journey northwards towards the southern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park.

The Uganda Kobs, buffaloes and elephants will welcome you to the savannah National Park and while driving through the Ishasha sector, you will get a chance to see the tree climbing lions (if lucky).

Head to the northern section of the Park that is known for the abundant wildlife and bird species. Arrive on-time for lunch and later relax, have dinner and rest for the night.

Day 4: Morning game drive and afternoon Launch cruise;

Grab a cup of hot tea or coffee and prepare to explore the wild beauty of Queen Elizabeth National Park.

At 6:30am start the game drive by driving through the Northern section of the Park especially across the Kasenyi game track where herds of elephants, bushbucks, buffaloes, Uganda kobs, Defassa waterbucks and small prides of lions as well as leopards will be spotted.

After 3-4 fruitful and nature rewarding game drive, return to the Lodge for a proper breakfast and rest till lunch.

 

Have lunch and proceed to this Park’s most exciting tourist activity-the launch cruise along the Kazinga Channel where Nile crocodiles and Hippos will be spotted at a stone throw from the boat.

Other animals that will be encountered during this boat cruise are the elephants, buffaloes and Uganda kobs at the banks of the Kazinga Channel, and not forgetting the beautiful birds that will be seen at the banks, nearby wetlands, in the water or freely flying up the sky.

Cruising while on the upper deck of the boat will offer the best views. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Chimpanzee Tracking and Return to Kampala;

After breakfast, get your trekking gear ready for a walk across the Kyambura gorge for a wonderful time with one of the habituated chimpanzee communities.

It takes a shorter time to find them here than other larger places like Kibale Forest and Budongo Forest among others.

Spend one hour and return to the Lodge for check-out. Leave Queen Elizabeth National Park for Kampala with a lunch break in one of the Towns and another stop at Mpambire Drum makers to see how traditional drums are made from specific tree species.
