Detailed itinerary of the 5 days Uganda Safari

Day 1: Transfer to Jinja – Enroute Mabira & Ssezibwa

Start your day with a pick-up from Entebbe International Airport or your place of stay in Kampala for a drive to Jinja-the Adventure City of Uganda.

However, it won’t be a straight drive to Jinja but rather several stopovers at beautiful tourist sites, one being Ssezibwa falls a thrilling nature and cultural spot.

While here, spot some of the unique bird species, enjoy the thundering sound of the waterfalls and visit the Cultural worship center.

Continue with the journey until Mabira Forest where you will participate in the adventurous zip-lining activity where the tree species, primates and bird species of the forest will be spotted.

Proceed with the journey until Jinja Town for lunch at the Sunset Hotel and later head to the beautiful Rippon falls.

End your first day with a boat ride where you will get a chance to see the Source of the great Nile River and several historical sites as well as numerous aquatic bird species. Return to Kampala for late dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Drive to Mabamba Wetland Sanctuary.

On the second day of your 5 days Uganda safari you will be heading for a tour of Mabamba wetland Sanctuary where numerous water and wetland bird species including the iconic shoebill storks will be spotted.

Have breakfast at your Hotel and be picked by our driver for the 2 hours of driving and ferry crossing to the shores of Lake Victoria (60 minutes’ drive from Kampala to Nakiwogo Landing site, ferry crossing to Buwaya Landing site and finally about 30 minutes’ drive to the swamp).

On arrival, hop into a wooden boat for a ride along Mabamba Swamp to identify some of the bird species including the shoebill stork, African Jacana, Papyrus gonolek, Malachite Kingfishers, yellow-billed ducks and long-tailed cormorant among others.

Head for lunch and in the afternoon be driven to the spectacular Entebbe Botanical Gardens for a chance to see several unique species of plants and their uses as well as numerous bird species that were not seen at Mabamba wetland such as the Orange weavers among others.

Also look-out for the primate species at the verdant Botanical gardens. Return to Kampala for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Drive to Murchison falls National Park and hike to the top of the falls

On day 3 of the 5 days Uganda safari drive to Uganda’s most popular and bio-diverse National Park in north-western Uganda.

Have an early morning breakfast and meet up with your safari driver at 6:00aam to start your 4-5 hours’ drive to Murchison falls National Park.

Just like most Ugandan safaris, your journey has several stopovers one being at Luwero Town to purchase some of the delicious fresh fruits and Plantain-locally known as “Gonja” and another at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary to see the country’s only Rhino population in the wild.

Continue until Masindi Town for lunch and straight to the Park entrance gate where you will be welcomed by the curious Olive baboons and other animals.

Head for the hike to the top of the Murchison falls where you will clearly see how large quantities of water violently pass through a narrow gorge of 7 meters, creating a spectacular sighting to behold. Later be driven to the Lodge for dinner and overnight.

Travel time: 6-7 hours.

Day 4: Morning Game drive and afternoon boat cruise

Wake up early so as to catch up with the early risers of the Park before heading to their hideouts.

Therefore have breakfast by 6:00am and thirty minutes later start the game drive where you are likely to spot the nocturnal animals such as leopards, lions, spotted hyenas as well as the Buffaloes, Uganda Kobs, waterbucks, Elephants, Topis, Rothschild giraffes, common elands and warthogs among others.

Finalize the game drive by 11:00am and return to the Lodge for relaxation and later Lunch.

Have lunch by 12:30pm or 1:00pm so that by 2:00pm you can start the boat cruise to the bottom of the fall where large schools of hippos and large basks of Nile crocodiles relaxing along the shores of the River as well as several antelopes, elephants and buffaloes. Retire to the Lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Return to Kampala

Have breakfast and head for the last game drive offering chances of seeing other animals that were not seen the previous days.
