Murchison Falls National Park a magnificent Uganda wildlife safari park hosting four of the big five game and variety of other wildlife, primates in its distinct habitats. Murchison is the biggest of the 10 parks in Uganda. Other wildlife species thriving in Murchison Falls NP include the Rothschild giraffes, hyenas, crocodiles, hippos, bush bucks, over 451 bird species etc.

Queen Elizabeth National Park is a home to unique wildlife especially the tree climbing lions living at Ishasha sector. This is the second largest park, named after Queen Elizabeth of England and hosts wildlife such as crocodiles, hippos, elephants, buffaloes, lions, over 620 bird species, warthogs, antelopes, leopards and more.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is largely a tropical forest park, spanning on land area of 331sq.kms. Its creation in 1991 was purposely to host a section of the currently 1063 mountain gorillas and over 459 of them exist in Bwindi alone. Trekking mountain gorillas in Bwindi is possible while in Buhoma, Ruhija, Rushaga and Nkuringo sectors.

Day 1: Murchison Falls National Park

Murchison Falls National Park transfer 5-6 hours’ drive from Kampala. Drive Northwards via Luweero, a renowned historical town and en-route, Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary will be your stopover area to track rhinos.

Leave Ziwa for you upscale dining in Masindi town, then drive to your lodge via Kichumbanyobo gate but before getting to your lodge, pay a visit to the top of the falls.

Day 2: A full day Murchison Falls Exploration

Starting your morning game drive early is the best thing to catch up with the early morning risers. For 3-4 hours’ game drive along the Northern game track, your journey guarantees you astonishing wildlife sightings including buffaloes, giraffes, elephants, antelopes, birds, lions, leopards etc.

After lunch, you will be heading for an afternoon Victoria Nile launch trip taking 2-3 hours up to the bottom of the falls. From Paraa to the bottom of the falls, there are several wildlife species to see along the river banks including the Nile crocodiles, hippos, aquatic birds and more.

Leave the boat upon arrival at the bottom of the Murchison Falls, start hiking up to top of the falls to observe it as forces itself into a narrow rock, creating a permanent rainbow and a thunderous sound.

Return for lunch, after the next activity will be Kazinga Channel boat cruise for 2-3 hours. This is for you to see hippos, water birds, crocodiles and after, get back while still exploring more attractions on the Kazinga channel that links Lake Edward and George.

Day 6: The Ultimate Gorilla Trekking Experience

Engage in a thrilling gorilla trekking: Leave your luxury safari lodge with a bottled water, snacks and fully on your waterproof hiking boots, join other visitors for briefing. While at the briefing point, you get to know the gorilla trekking regulations, a gorilla group to track starting at 8:00am.

The whole trekking adventure takes 2-6 hours and it includes one hour to be spent with mountain gorillas in the wild. After, return for relaxation at the lodge for either swimming or you can opt to visit the Batwa pygmies in the nearby local community.
