How Much does it Cost to See Gorillas in Uganda?
The cost to see gorillas in Uganda varies depending on the accommodation type, duration of the trip on top of the permit fees, which are set by the government. A gorilla trekking permit in Uganda costs $700 for foreign non-residents, $600 for foreign residents, and UGX 250,000 for East African residents.
Do I Require a Visa to Enter Uganda?
Yes, you are required to have a valid tourist visa that will allow you get to Uganda. You are advised to secure your tourist visa early enough before embarking on actual trip to Uganda and you can do so through Uganda embassy back at your home country or on arrival at Entebbe International Airport/at overland border.
A single tourist visa can be secured at $50 per person and it is usually valid for about 3months. In case you plan to combine Uganda with Kenya or Rwanda then you will need East African Tourist Visa which you can also get at $100. Note, Tanzania is not yet part of this visa arrangement.
Is it Possible for me to use my ATM Card or Credit Card in Uganda?
It is possible for you to use ATM or visa credit cards to withdraw money in Uganda but the challenge is that there are very few banks that allow this. Also, the amount to withdraw is limited per day from ATM machines and usually this service is available in major towns like Kampala and once you get to the wilderness you won’t find.
As well, if you are paying by credit card in Uganda, you may incur extra charges which usually ranges from 5 to 10 percent. To be on a safer side, we encourage our clients to have cash and have it changed once you arrive in Kampala. There are many forex bureaus in and around Kampala for you to exchange your US dollars, British pound or Euros into local currency.
Note, Uganda is entirely cash based nation and Uganda shilling is its currency. It is also important to note that when exchanging, usually small bills do attract low exchange rates.
Are Visitors Allowed to use Travelers’ Cheques in Uganda?
No, travelers’ cheques are no more accepted in Uganda.
Can I use MasterCard in Uganda?

YES, mountain gorilla trekking is open to every individual with the required qualifications. Gorilla trekking is one of the prime and the most sought-after wildlife adventures in Uganda. In Uganda, you can trek mountain gorillas in anyone of its two pristine parks where these massive creatures thrive; Bwindi Impenetrable National Park or Mgahinga National Park.

Note, only persons above 15 years are eligible to purchase gorilla permit and one gorilla family is trekked by 8 people per day.
