Detailed Itinerary for the 15 days Uganda Rwanda Safari

Day 1: Depart Kigali City/International Airport for Nyungwe Forest National Park

Early morning you will be picked from your Hotel about 7:00am and begin the 15 days Uganda Rwanda Safari, taking the road southwards towards Nyungwe Forest National Park.

The journey is for 5-6 hours including the stop at former King’s Palace in Nyanza and Ethnographic Museum in Butare. Get there on time for lunch and rest from the long journey.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking and the Canopy Walk adventure

This morning we arise to an early start that will see us venture into the jungle of Nyungwe to spend some quality time with some of Rwanda’s Chimpanzee population.

First make way into the Visitor Center for briefing on guidelines of chimpanzee trekking as well as watching these endangered Great Apes. Make sure that you have a lunch box when heading for this activity, because there is no returning back to the Lodge until evening.

After 2-5 hours of the entire chimpanzee trekking experience (including the one hour in their presence), enjoy a picnic lunch and have a nature-filled afternoon during the canopy walk.

This time you will walk through the 45-meter high bridge suspended above tree canopies and deep gorge for a different perspective of the forest as well as residents of the Park.

Day 3: Travel to Volcanoes National Park, in the north-west of Rwanda

On day 3 we journey into the lush Volcanoes National Park, mountain gorilla haven in the north-west of the country.

The ecology slightly changes in this Park because the Giant Apes here occupy slopes of Virunga Mountains dominated by more of Bamboo forest as well as Tropical forest.

Lunch en-route and for your entire evening you will just rest to get rejuvenated for another day of primate trekking.

Day 4: Awe-inspiring gorilla trekking experience and visit to Gorilla Guardian Village or Twin Lakes

Today, we wake up early for breakfast then journey into Kinigi Park Headquarters for orientation on conduct as well as safety guidelines to be followed in the jungle.

Afterwards, hop into the vehicle for a transfer to the Park boundary (where gorilla trailheads are found), then followed the lead of experienced Ranger guides to search for the allocated gorilla group, which lasts 2-5 hours including the majestic one hour in their midst.

Day 6: Unmatched Gorilla Trekking Experience in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

This is another fantastic and unforgettable day of your 15 days Uganda Rwanda Safari. Have a hearty breakfast and move/drive to the Park Headquarters for an orientation that will see you safely and successfully trek and spend time with the Giant Apes.

At 8:00am start the trek in the company of 7 other visitors, Ranger guides and porters, and this goes on for the next 1-5 hours before finally making contact with the gorillas. On finding them, your clock starts ticking after being allocated one hour.

The afternoon is spent experiencing the hunter-gatherer lifestyle of the Batwa pygmies, as we watch them make fire by simply rubbing sticks, hear the heart-warming stories and songs of their interesting past while living in the forest, enter their small grass-thatched houses and many others.

Day 8: Remarkable Wildlife Viewing experience in Queen Elizabeth National Park

Embark on an early morning game drive with one of Uganda Wildlife Authority Ranger guides to lead you to spots where lions, leopards, spotted hyenas, elephants, Cape buffaloes, Hippos, Uganda Kobs, Defassa waterbucks and Topis are found with visits to watering holes where most animals converge.

Queen Elizabeth National Park

Queen Elizabeth National Park is popular for being one of the best Wildlife Sanctuaries in the country with over 95 mammal species, about 600 bird species and several reptile species.

After having lunch at the Lodge, begin your afternoon adventure on Kazinga Channel, looking for the highest Hippo and Nile crocodile concentrations. Drive back to the Lodge as the sun is setting over the sweeping plains.

Day 10: Explore Kibale Forest National Park in a guided chimpanzee trek

From your respective places of lodging, move or be driven to Kanyanchu Visitor Center for briefing on safety guidelines to be followed for successful chimpanzee trekking experiences.

You will be taken through the guidelines to be followed in case chimpanzees charge or how to avoid irritating among other things.

Leaving the chimpanzees behind, we make way into the renowned home to the World’s most powerful waterfalls-Murchison falls National Park.

Our first en-route stop is at Hoima Town for Lunch then the Albertine escarpments for photography. From here, make way to the reserved Safari Lodge for refreshment, dinner and overnight.

Day 12: Full day discovery of Murchison falls National Park

Summarize your adventure near the banks of River Nile where most animals converge to drink water and feed on luxuriant pasture.

A hot meal after the 3-4 hours of game drives is a wonderful idea to refuel and later make way into Paraa jetty for briefing before embarking the waiting boat for a cruise along the Nile River. Put your focus on the banks where highest concentrations of Hippos and Nile crocodiles will be found.

Arrive the City in the late afternoon and settle-in at the reserved safari Lodge for dinner and overnight.
