Breaking! New Gorilla Families Opened for Trekking in Bwindi
Great news for wildlife enthusiasts & conservationists for the New Gorilla Families! The Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) has recently announced the opening of new gorilla families for tracking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. This marks a significant milestone in gorilla conservation and offers an expanded opportunity for tourists to engage in one of the most breathtaking wildlife experiences in the world.
The Uganda Wildlife Authority made this exciting announcement on January 17, 2024. The news was shared through a formal communication addressed to all tour operators and tourism stakeholders, underscoring the importance of this development in the realm of wildlife tourism and conservation.
A Conservation Success Story;
The addition of these new gorilla families is the result of a rigorous four-year habituation process by UWA’s dedicated team. Their unwavering commitment to conservation and sustainable tourism has been key to the success of this initiative. This achievement not only enriches Uganda’s wildlife offering but also signifies a positive impact on the preservation of the mountain gorillas.
The New Gorilla Families and Trekking Opportunities;
The new families now open for tracking are located in various sectors of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park:
- Buhoma Sector: Binyindo and Muyambi
- Rushaga Sector: Rwigi and Tindatine
- Nkuringo Sector: Posho
With these additions, UWA will offer a total of 194 normal gorilla trekking permits and four gorilla habituation experience permits per day. This provides a unique and enriching experience for visitors, offering an unparalleled opportunity to observe the fascinating behaviors of gorillas in their natural habitat.
Important Booking Information;
In light of this exciting development, it is crucial for tourists and tour operators such as we at Afrik-Trek Holidays Ltd to note that UWA will no longer consider requests for extra permits, even during peak seasons. To avoid any inconvenience, it’s advised to secure tracking permits well in advance. This ensures a smooth and enjoyable experience for everyone involved.
It is also worthy to note that starting from 1st/July/2024, gorilla permits will no longer be $700, there is an increment of $100 which means all gorilla permits will be costing uSD 800 for all foreign tourists annd from $600 to $700 for foreign residents of East Africa.
